On raw materials, medical-grade or optical-grade base polymer is required, free of impurities; reinforcing fillers must be selected and dispersed to avoid introducing scattering particles. On vulcanization, platinum-catalyzed addition cure is the only practical choice — peroxide-cured tubing produces byproducts that degrade transparency progressively over time. Temperature uniformity across the mixing, extrusion, and cure stages must be tightly controlled; localized overheating generates gel inclusions that act as scattering centers in the tube wall. On the production environment, particulate contamination is the primary quality risk for clear tubing: forming and packaging must be done in a cleanroom to prevent foreign particles from becoming embedded in or adhering to the tube surface.
